Exports from Thailand

In 2022, approx. X units of medical, surgical or laboratory sterilisers were exported from Thailand; increasing by 18% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 91% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, medical steriliser exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a perceptible downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 89%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Japan (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Malaysia (X units) were the main destinations of medical steriliser exports from Thailand, with a combined 57% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +46.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Japan ($X) and China ($X) constituted the largest markets for medical steriliser exported from Thailand worldwide, with a combined 51% share of total exports. Myanmar, Singapore, the Philippines, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.

Lao People's Democratic Republic, with a CAGR of +111.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average medical steriliser export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 38% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 147% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+37.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Thailand

In 2022, approx. X units of medical, surgical or laboratory sterilisers were imported into Thailand; with a decrease of -8.6% against the year before. Overall, imports recorded a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 46%. Imports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, medical steriliser imports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 27%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), China (X units) and Japan (X units) were the main suppliers of medical steriliser imports to Thailand, with a combined 56% share of total imports. Poland, Spain, Italy, Germany, the United States, South Korea, France, Brazil, Sweden and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +87.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Japan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of medical, surgical or laboratory sterilisers to Thailand, comprising 22% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Japan stood at -4.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+4.3% per year) and the United States (-2.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average medical steriliser import price amounted to $X per unit, waning by -8.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a perceptible decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 27%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
