Myanmar (X tons) was the main destination for non-medical x-ray exports from Thailand, with a 38% share of total exports. Moreover, non-medical x-ray exports to Myanmar exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (X kg), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Malaysia (X kg), with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Myanmar stood at +35.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (-20.1% per year) and Malaysia (-5.5% per year).
In value terms, Japan ($X), Myanmar ($X) and Malaysia ($X) were the largest markets for non-medical x-ray exported from Thailand worldwide, together accounting for 72% of total exports.
Myanmar, with a CAGR of +44.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average non-medical x-ray export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a strong expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of non-medical x-rays decreased by -28.9% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 130%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, non-medical x-ray imports fell notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 77% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of non-medical x-ray to Thailand, with a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, non-medical x-ray imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Malaysia (X tons), with an 8.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +4.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+20.5% per year) and Malaysia (+49.0% per year).
In value terms, the largest non-medical x-ray suppliers to Thailand were China ($X), Japan ($X) and the United States ($X), with a combined 62% share of total imports. Singapore, Germany, Malaysia, the UK and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +37.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average non-medical x-ray import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -2.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
