From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, papaya exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 379%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons) were the main destinations of papaya exports from Thailand, with a combined 44% share of total exports. Malaysia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Russia, the UK, Cambodia, Qatar, the Czech Republic, Norway, Bangladesh and Hong Kong SAR lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 43%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bangladesh (with a CAGR of +224.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the key foreign market for papayas exports from Thailand, comprising 41% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Qatar, with a 5.9% share.

In 2022, the average papaya export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw noticeable growth.
