The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, phenolic resins exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Vietnam (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main destinations of phenolic resins exports from Thailand, with a combined 71% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan (Chinese), Australia and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Australia (with a CAGR of +86.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the key foreign market for phenolic resins in primary forms exports from Thailand, comprising 58% of total exports. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period.
