In 2021, purchases abroad of prepared or preserved meat or offal of turkeys was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports recorded significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 355% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, preserved turkey imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 463% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
The United States (X tons), Australia (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of preserved turkey imports to Thailand, together accounting for 85% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Australia (with a CAGR of +266.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
