After two years of growth, the Thai sausage market decreased by -14.9% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a perceptible decrease. Among the main countries of destination, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +57.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous year. In 2021, supplies from abroad of sausages and similar products of meat decreased by -14.7% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 166% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, sausage imports reduced to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United States (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main suppliers of sausage imports to Thailand, with a combined 79% share of total imports. Austria, France, Malaysia and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Austria (with a CAGR of +39.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
