The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, slaked lime exports declined slightly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 40%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Australia (X tons), India (X tons) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of slaked lime exports from Thailand, together accounting for 77% of total exports. These countries were followed by Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore and the Philippines, which together accounted for a further 22%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Singapore (with a CAGR of +82.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Australia ($X), India ($X) and Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X) constituted the largest markets for slaked lime exported from Thailand worldwide, together accounting for 73% of total exports. Singapore, Papua New Guinea, Cambodia and the Philippines lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.

Singapore, with a CAGR of +94.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average slaked lime export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 6.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cambodia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Senegal (+13.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of slaked lime increased by 30% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decline. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, slaked lime imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced decrease. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Japan (X tons) constituted the largest slaked lime supplier to Thailand, with a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, slaked lime imports from Japan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Malaysia (X tons), threefold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Japan was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (-23.2% per year) and Germany (-5.1% per year).

In value terms, Japan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of slaked lime to Thailand, comprising 71% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Japan totaled +2.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+1.7% per year) and Malaysia (-19.0% per year).

In 2021, the average slaked lime import price amounted to $X per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 66% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
