The Thai talcum powder market declined remarkably to $X in 2021, waning by -18.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a deep contraction. Talcum powder consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

These countries were followed by the United Arab Emirates, Cambodia, Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, Mexico, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Germany, Canada and Vietnam, which together accounted for a further 34%.

The average talcum powder export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -1.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a slight decline. In 2021, overseas purchases of talcum powder and other powders for cosmetic use decreased by -25.7% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after seven years of growth. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 38%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, talcum powder imports shrank modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 19%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of talcum powder to Thailand, with a 53% share of total imports. Moreover, talcum powder imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), fivefold.
