Exports by Country
The United States (X tons) was the main destination for beer exports from the Netherlands, with a 28% share of total exports. Moreover, beer exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X tons), twofold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States totaled -2.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+4.0% per year) and Germany (+5.8% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for beer exports from the Netherlands, comprising 38% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 9% share of total exports. It was followed by Canada, with a 4.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States stood at -1.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+1.5% per year) and Canada (-0.4% per year).

The average beer export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 4.2% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands
Beer imports into the Netherlands fell sharply to X tons in 2022, dropping by -24.2% compared with the year before. In general, total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 28%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2022, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of beer to the Netherlands, accounting for a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, beer imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), fourfold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Belgium totaled +6.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-1.8% per year) and France (+3.3% per year).
In value terms, Belgium ($X) constituted the largest supplier of beer to the Netherlands, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 4.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Belgium amounted to +7.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-1.7% per year) and France (+0.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average beer import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the price for France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
