Germany (X tons), Spain (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes exports from the Netherlands, with a combined 24% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Belgium, Brazil and the UK, which together accounted for a further 18%.

Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 39%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes imports dropped to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +82.7% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 97%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then fell in the following year.
