Tea Market Size in the Netherlands

The Dutch tea market expanded notably to $X in 2022, surging by 7.9% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 59%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Poland (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main destinations of tea exports from the Netherlands, together accounting for 40% of total exports. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 55% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, imports of tea into the Netherlands shrank to X tons, dropping by -6.6% on the year before. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, tea imports dropped to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
