In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in the UK refined lead market, when its value increased by 4.7% to $X. In general, consumption, however, showed a mild slump. Refined lead consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 65% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, refined lead exports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +44.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 44%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The average refined lead export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, dropping by -2.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 25% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to India ($X per ton) and Portugal ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($X per ton) and France ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

In 2022, the amount of refined lead (unwrought) imported into the UK dropped rapidly to X tons, shrinking by -49.8% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, imports showed a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 101%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, refined lead imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 138% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Ireland (X tons) was the main supplier of refined lead to the UK, accounting for a 98% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany (X tons), with a 0.1% share of total imports.
