After two years of decline, the Tunisian brakes and servo-brakes market increased by 16% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Tunisia
In 2022, the amount of brakes and servo-brakes exported from Tunisia contracted rapidly to X tons, which is down by -18.8% compared with 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 322% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, brakes and servo-brakes exports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 227% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
France (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main destinations of brakes and servo-brakes exports from Tunisia, together comprising 78% of total exports. Libya, Algeria, Poland, Egypt, Ireland and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Ireland (with a CAGR of +269.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for brakes and servo-brakes exported from Tunisia were Turkey ($X), France ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 79% share of total exports. Ireland, Italy, the UK, Egypt, Libya and Algeria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Ireland, with a CAGR of +236.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average brakes and servo-brakes export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 13% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 24%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Algeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Brakes And Servo-Brakes Imports
Imports into Tunisia
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of brakes and servo-brakes, when their volume increased by 9.3% to X tons. In general, total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -14.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, brakes and servo-brakes imports expanded notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Italy (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of brakes and servo-brakes to Tunisia, with a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, brakes and servo-brakes imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), threefold. Thailand (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Italy stood at +4.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+7.4% per year) and Thailand (+20.4% per year).
In value terms, Italy ($X) constituted the largest supplier of brakes and servo-brakes to Tunisia, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 9.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 9.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Italy was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+0.7% per year) and Turkey (+7.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average brakes and servo-brakes import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 2.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 12% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
