In 2022, the Tunisian broom, brush, and mop market decreased by -34.9% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, overseas shipments of brooms, brushes, and mops increased by 71% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after seven years of decline. Overall, exports, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 448%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, broom, brush, and mop exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 345% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Libya (X units), Morocco (X units) and Senegal (X units) were the main destinations of broom, brush, and mop exports from Tunisia, together accounting for 73% of total exports. Cote d'Ivoire, the UK, Palestine, France, Italy, Kuwait and Algeria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Palestine (with a CAGR of +146.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for broom, brush, and mop exported from Tunisia were Libya ($X), Senegal ($X) and Morocco ($X), together accounting for 63% of total exports. Italy, France, Cote d'Ivoire, Palestine, the UK, Kuwait and Algeria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.

Palestine, with a CAGR of +106.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average broom, brush, and mop export price amounted to $X per unit, waning by -10.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 67%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Algeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Tunisia

Broom, brush, and mop imports into Tunisia amounted to X units in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, saw a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, broom, brush, and mop imports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest broom, brush, and mop supplier to Tunisia, accounting for a 55% share of total imports. Moreover, broom, brush, and mop imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Vietnam (X units), twofold. Italy (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+9.6% per year) and Italy (-3.3% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of brooms, brushes, and mops to Tunisia, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +1.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (-5.8% per year) and Vietnam (+11.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average broom, brush, and mop import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by -24.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 31% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the price for Greece ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
