As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-aqueous paint and varnish exports rose notably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 83% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Mauritania (X tons), Libya (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main destinations of non-aqueous paint and varnish exports from Tunisia, with a combined 62% share of total exports. Morocco, Burkina Faso, France, Madagascar, Algeria, Senegal, Niger, Gabon, Gambia and Cote d'Ivoire lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +34.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for non-aqueous paint and varnish exported from Tunisia were Mauritania ($X), Libya ($X) and Morocco ($X), together accounting for 59% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Niger (+13.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Tunisia
In 2022, approx. X tons of paints and varnishes dispersed or dissolved in a non-aqueous medium were imported into Tunisia; growing by 19% against the year before. In general, imports enjoyed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 57%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, the largest non-aqueous paint and varnish suppliers to Tunisia were Italy ($X), France ($X) and Germany ($X), together accounting for 72% of total imports. The Netherlands, Spain, the UK, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Turkey and China lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Portugal, with a CAGR of +32.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
