From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Senegal (X litres), France (X litres) and Burkina Faso (X litres) were the main destinations of sugary soft drink exports from Tunisia, with a combined 85% share of total exports. Cameroon, Central African Republic, Italy, Cote d'Ivoire and Libya lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 6.9%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Cameroon (with a CAGR of +15.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Senegal ($X), France ($X) and Central African Republic ($X) constituted the largest markets for sugary soft drink exported from Tunisia worldwide, with a combined 88% share of total exports. Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Italy, Cote d'Ivoire and Libya lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 4.8%.

Cameroon, with a CAGR of +5.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

The average sugary soft drink export price stood at $X per litre in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per litre in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Burkina Faso ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Libya (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Tunisia

In 2022, sugary soft drink imports into Tunisia surged to X litres, with an increase of 24% against 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 821% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X litres in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, sugary soft drink imports fell slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 1,751% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Austria (X litres) constituted the largest sugary soft drink supplier to Tunisia, accounting for a 42% share of total imports. Moreover, sugary soft drink imports from Austria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Algeria (X litres), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Saudi Arabia (X litres), with an 18% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Austria totaled +31.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Algeria (+31.3% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+73.6% per year).

In value terms, Austria ($X) constituted the largest supplier of sugary soft drinks to Tunisia, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 25% share of total imports. It was followed by Algeria, with a 4.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Austria amounted to +29.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Saudi Arabia (+80.4% per year) and Algeria (+23.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average sugary soft drink import price stood at $X per litre in 2022, falling by -20% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 101%. The import price peaked at $X per litre in 2021, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
