In 2022, stainless steel household articles exports from Tunisia contracted markedly to X units, declining by -42% on the previous year's figure. In general, exports saw a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 575%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, stainless steel household articles exports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 369%. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Turkey (X units), France (X units) and Algeria (X units) were the main destinations of stainless steel household articles exports from Tunisia, together comprising 68% of total exports. Bahrain, Singapore, Burkina Faso, Norway, Ghana and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.

The average stainless steel household articles export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 4.5% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, stainless steel household articles export price decreased by -27.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 55%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Bahrain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Tunisia

In 2022, the amount of table, kitchen or household articles and parts of stainless steel imported into Tunisia fell modestly to X units, with a decrease of -4.3% against 2021 figures. In general, total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -15.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, stainless steel household articles imports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 21%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Turkey (X units) constituted the largest stainless steel household articles supplier to Tunisia, accounting for a 68% share of total imports. Moreover, stainless steel household articles imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X units), threefold. Spain (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Turkey stood at +17.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-7.0% per year) and Spain (-0.6% per year).

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constituted the largest supplier of table, kitchen or household articles and parts of stainless steel to Tunisia, comprising 58% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 26% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 5.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Turkey amounted to +17.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-0.4% per year) and Spain (-3.3% per year).
