In 2021, the Turkish cored arc-welding wire market increased by 5.6% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a perceptible reduction. In 2021, approx. X tons of cored arc-welding wire were exported from Turkey; shrinking by -9.1% on the previous year's figure. Overall, exports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 65%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cored arc-welding wire exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +59.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 59%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. North Macedonia (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) were the main destinations of cored arc-welding wire exports from Turkey, with a combined 47% share of total exports. Portugal, the UK, Serbia, Azerbaijan, the Philippines, South Africa, Belarus, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +211.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for cored arc-welding wire exported from Turkey were Russia ($X), North Macedonia ($X) and Egypt ($X), with a combined 36% share of total exports. In 2021, the average cored arc-welding wire export price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 28% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable setback. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 48%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cored arc-welding wire imports expanded notably to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from South Korea totaled +18.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+9.4% per year) and Vietnam (-6.3% per year).
