The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 20%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, purchases abroad of butter decreased by -32.3% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports showed a dramatic contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 57%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, butter imports totaled $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 43%. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the Netherlands (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of butter to Turkey, accounting for a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, butter imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Ireland (X tons), fivefold. Pakistan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from the Netherlands stood at -13.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ireland (-19.0% per year) and Pakistan (0.0% per year).
