Cash Register Market Size in Turkey

For the fifth year in a row, the Turkish cash register market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by X% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Cash register consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of cash registers decreased by X% to X units, falling for the fourth year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports showed a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. The exports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cash register exports fell notably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded measured growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Cyprus (X units), Iran (X units) and Iraq (X units) were the main destinations of cash register exports from Turkey, with a combined X% share of total exports. Serbia, Pakistan, the Netherlands and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Pakistan (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Cyprus ($X) remains the key foreign market for cash registers exports from Turkey, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Serbia ($X), with an X% share of total exports. It was followed by Pakistan, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Cyprus amounted to X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Serbia (X% per year) and Pakistan (X% per year).

In 2022, the average cash register export price amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of X%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Iran ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of cash registers increased by X% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Over the period under review, total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cash register imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a mild descent. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest cash register supplier to Turkey, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, cash register imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Vietnam (X units), threefold. Thailand (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (X% per year) and Thailand (X.5% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by X%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while the price for Vietnam ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
