Centrifuges Market Size in Turkey

In 2021, the Turkish centrifuges market decreased by -52.3% to $X, falling for the second year in a row after five years of growth. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a noticeable decline. Centrifuges consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Centrifuges Production in Turkey

In value terms, centrifuges production fell dramatically to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production showed a significant contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the production volume increased by 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Turkey

After nine years of growth, overseas shipments of centrifuges decreased by -10.5% to X units in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 94%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, centrifuges exports dropped to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

Exports by Country

Free Zones (X units) was the main destination for centrifuges exports from Turkey, with a 22% share of total exports. Moreover, centrifuges exports to Free Zones exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Iran (X units), with a 5.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Free Zones totaled +59.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+75.5% per year) and Iran (+39.5% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for centrifuges exported from Turkey were Free Zones ($X), Iran ($X) and Italy ($X), together comprising 35% of total exports. The Netherlands, the United States, Russia, Belgium, Greece, Georgia, Iraq, Spain, Azerbaijan and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

Spain, with a CAGR of +108.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average centrifuges export price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, faced a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 13%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (-5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Turkey

Centrifuges imports into Turkey surged to X units in 2021, increasing by 17% compared with 2020. In general, imports showed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 185% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, centrifuges imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +45.4% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 79%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

India (X units), China (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main suppliers of centrifuges imports to Turkey, with a combined 73% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, Slovakia, Sweden, Poland, Free Zones, Spain, the United States, France and Denmark, which together accounted for a further 22%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +44.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), China ($X) and Slovakia ($X) appeared to be the largest centrifuges suppliers to Turkey, together comprising 67% of total imports. These countries were followed by Poland, Italy, Spain, India, Sweden, Free Zones, France, Denmark and the United States, which together accounted for a further 23%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Spain, with a CAGR of +35.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average centrifuges import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 9.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 45%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per unit), while the price for India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+14.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
