Production of peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.
The average yield of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres in Turkey was estimated at less than X kg per ha in 2022, flattening at the previous year's figure. In general, the yield saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

In general, exports showed a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 4,061% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, exports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres contracted remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 1,304%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
Exports by Country
Azerbaijan (X tons) was the main destination for exports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres from Turkey, with a 88% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres to Azerbaijan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Egypt (X tons), tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Azerbaijan stood at +54.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Egypt (-50.3% per year) and Cyprus (-23.6% per year).
In value terms, Azerbaijan ($X), Egypt ($X) and Cyprus ($X) were the largest markets for coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibre exported from Turkey worldwide, together accounting for 71% of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Azerbaijan, with a CAGR of +28.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average export price for coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres amounted to $X per ton, surging by 88% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 446%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cyprus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+115.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Turkey
In 2022, the amount of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres imported into Turkey fell rapidly to X tons, with a decrease of -76.8% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports faced a dramatic setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 57%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres reduced sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a sharp decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 50%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the Philippines (X tons) constituted the largest coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibre supplier to Turkey, accounting for a 61% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres from the Philippines exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), fourfold. Bulgaria (X kg) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the Philippines was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (-47.3% per year) and Bulgaria (-16.8% per year).
In value terms, the Philippines ($X), India ($X) and Thailand ($X) appeared to be the largest coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibre suppliers to Turkey, together accounting for 91% of total imports. Bulgaria, Germany, China, Belgium and Sri Lanka lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 8.3%.
Belgium, with a CAGR of +14.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres amounted to $X per ton, rising by 147% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 149% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while the price for Sri Lanka ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+41.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
