Combine Harvester Market Size in Turkey

In 2022, overseas shipments of combine harvester-threshers decreased by -41.9% to X units, falling for the fourth year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 533% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, combine harvester exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted significant growth. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Russia (X units), Bosnia and Herzegovina (X units) and Tunisia (X units) were the main destinations of combine harvester exports from Turkey, together accounting for 58% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bosnia and Herzegovina (with a CAGR of +71.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for combine harvester-threshers exports from Turkey, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Georgia ($X), with a 2.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Iran, with a 1.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Russia stood at +41.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Georgia (-11.7% per year) and Iran (-38.6% per year).

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of combine harvester-threshers, when their volume decreased by -20.2% to X units. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 391% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, combine harvester imports dropped dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate mild growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 341%. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Poland (X units) constituted the largest supplier of combine harvester to Turkey, accounting for a 83% share of total imports. Moreover, combine harvester imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X units), tenfold. Belgium (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Poland totaled +1.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+7.2% per year) and Belgium (-1.5% per year).

In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of combine harvester-threshers to Turkey, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 7.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 4.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Poland stood at +3.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+3.1% per year) and Belgium (-0.9% per year).

Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Croatia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
