The average dog and cat food export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, dog and cat food export price increased by +4.3% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 61% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cyprus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Turkey
For the seventh consecutive year, Turkey recorded growth in overseas purchases of dog and cat food, which increased by 60% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports posted buoyant growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country
In 2021, France (X tons) constituted the largest dog and cat food supplier to Turkey, accounting for a 33% share of total imports. Moreover, dog and cat food imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hungary (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Poland (X tons), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from France amounted to +21.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hungary (+12.3% per year) and Poland (+60.0% per year).
In value terms, France ($X) constituted the largest supplier of dog and cat food to Turkey, comprising 34% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hungary ($X), with an 8.7% share of total imports. It was followed by Serbia, with an 8.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from France stood at +18.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hungary (+13.7% per year) and Serbia (+49.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average dog and cat food import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 3.4% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 11%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($X per ton), while the price for Austria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+17.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
