Capacitor Market Size in Turkey

The Turkish capacitor market soared to $X in 2021, increasing by 35% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, the total consumption indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +65.4% against 2019 indices. As a result, consumption reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, shipments abroad of electrical capacitors increased by 203% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports continue to indicate a strong expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, capacitor exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a prominent increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Iran (X tons), China (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) were the main destinations of capacitor exports from Turkey, together accounting for 34% of total exports. These countries were followed by Croatia, France, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Brazil, Slovenia, Russia, Germany, Egypt and Georgia, which together accounted for a further 40%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by France (with a CAGR of +124.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for capacitor exported from Turkey were Iran ($X), Iraq ($X) and Azerbaijan ($X), with a combined 26% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Egypt, China, Slovenia, France, Germany, Georgia, Croatia, Pakistan, Brazil and Russia, which together accounted for a further 40%.

Among the main countries of destination, France, with a CAGR of +134.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average capacitor export price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -8.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 68%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of electrical capacitors increased by 31% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +81.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, capacitor imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +66.0% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of capacitor to Turkey, with a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, capacitor imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Romania (X tons), with a 4.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +5.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+15.2% per year) and Romania (+64.3% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of electrical capacitors to Turkey, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with an 8.8% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with an 8.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +7.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+11.0% per year) and South Korea (+3.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average capacitor import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 9.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 21%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
