As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, automotive lighting exports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Germany (X units), Italy (X units) and Spain (X units) were the main destinations of automotive lighting exports from Turkey, together comprising 42% of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, France, Slovenia, Belgium, Romania, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Russia and Morocco, which together accounted for a further 40%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Slovenia (with a CAGR of +75.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Spain ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for automotive lighting exported from Turkey worldwide, with a combined 42% share of total exports. The United States, France, Slovenia, Belgium, Romania, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Russia and Morocco lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 40%.

Slovenia, with a CAGR of +125.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average automotive lighting export price amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 50% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 50%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 25%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, automotive lighting imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

China (X units), Romania (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) were the main suppliers of automotive lighting imports to Turkey, together accounting for 37% of total imports. Taiwan (Chinese), India, South Korea, Spain, Italy, Germany, Slovakia, Thailand, Japan and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 46%.

Thailand, with a CAGR of +15.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average automotive lighting import price amounted to $X per unit, declining by -1.5% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
