Ferro-Manganese Market Size in Turkey

The Turkish ferro-manganese market skyrocketed to $X in 2022, with an increase of 23% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, consumption, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. Ferro-manganese consumption peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports from Turkey

In 2022, exports of ferro-manganese from Turkey shrank to X tons, declining by -14.6% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports showed a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 155%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ferro-manganese exports fell remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 153% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Canada (X tons), Egypt (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) were the main destinations of ferro-manganese exports from Turkey, together accounting for 59% of total exports. Uzbekistan, Argentina, Greece, Kazakhstan, Israel, Georgia, Bulgaria and Brazil lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +64.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Canada ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for ferro-manganese exports from Turkey, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Azerbaijan ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 5.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Canada amounted to +47.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Azerbaijan (+34.1% per year) and Egypt (-5.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average ferro-manganese export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -21.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 235% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+34.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ferro-Manganese Imports

Imports into Turkey

In 2022, the amount of ferro-manganese imported into Turkey declined to X tons, falling by -3.9% against 2021 figures. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.4% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 49%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, ferro-manganese imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 171% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

India (X tons), Norway (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of ferro-manganese imports to Turkey, together comprising 68% of total imports. China, Russia, South Korea, Malaysia, South Africa and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +153.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Norway ($X), India ($X) and China ($X) constituted the largest ferro-manganese suppliers to Turkey, with a combined 69% share of total imports.

China, with a CAGR of +156.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average ferro-manganese import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 52% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 102%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for South Africa ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+17.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
