The market value increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 295%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, baby food exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports posted notable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 218% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Egypt (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons) and Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of baby food exports from Turkey, together accounting for 44% of total exports. Cyprus, Iraq, Tajikistan, Iran, China, Yemen, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Somalia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 45%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Somalia (with a CAGR of +101.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for baby food exported from Turkey were Cyprus ($X), Syrian Arab Republic ($X) and Azerbaijan ($X), together accounting for 52% of total exports. Egypt, Iraq, Tajikistan, Iran, China, Somalia, Yemen, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.

Somalia, with a CAGR of +92.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average baby food export price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -5.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 31%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Cyprus ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Poland totaled +13.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ireland (+28.5% per year) and Germany (-3.5% per year).

In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of food preparations for infants to Turkey, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ireland ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 16% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Poland stood at +14.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ireland (+29.0% per year) and Germany (-2.1% per year).

In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 9.9% against the previous year.
