The Netherlands (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Cameroon (X tons) were the main destinations of fructose exports from Turkey, with a combined 28% share of total exports. Germany, China, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, Russia, Ghana, Spain, the UK, Malaysia and Cote d'Ivoire lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 44%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Cote d'Ivoire (with a CAGR of +536.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average fructose export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -6.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 7.3% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cameroon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a pronounced increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 95%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, fructose imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports posted a strong expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Israel (X tons), Canada (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of fructose imports to Turkey, with a combined 59% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Iran, Finland, Austria, Russia, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK and China, which together accounted for a further 35%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Iran (with a CAGR of +953.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Canada ($X), Israel ($X) and France ($X) constituted the largest fructose suppliers to Turkey, together accounting for 57% of total imports. Austria, Belgium, Finland, the UK, the Netherlands, Iran, Russia, Germany, China and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.

Iran, with a CAGR of +1,709.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average fructose import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 15% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 77% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
