Candied Fruit Market Size in Turkey
The Turkish candied fruit market fell markedly to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -19.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed strong growth. From 2014 to 2021, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Turkey
In 2021, exports of candied fruits from Turkey declined markedly to X tons, shrinking by -20.5% compared with 2020 figures. Overall, exports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 110%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, candied fruit exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -21.6% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United States (X tons), Pakistan (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) were the main destinations of candied fruit exports from Turkey, with a combined 38% share of total exports. Thailand, Algeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Israel, Australia, Uruguay, Kazakhstan, Italy, New Zealand and Nepal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 46%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Nepal (with a CAGR of +542.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for candied fruit exports from Turkey, comprising 29% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with a 6.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States stood at +39.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+16.1% per year) and Israel (+19.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average candied fruit export price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 46% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a perceptible setback. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Azerbaijan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uruguay (+23.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Candied Fruit Imports
Imports into Turkey
After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of candied fruits decreased by -44% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 98% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, candied fruit imports reduced notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 147%. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Italy (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of candied fruit imports to Turkey, together comprising 91% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Italy (with a CAGR of +22.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Italy ($X) constituted the largest supplier of candied fruit to Turkey, comprising 72% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by the Philippines, with a 7.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Italy totaled +18.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+2.7% per year) and the Philippines (+17.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average candied fruit import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 24% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+562.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
