As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, plastic furniture exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The United States (X units), Iraq (X units) and Bulgaria (X units) were the main destinations of plastic furniture exports from Turkey, with a combined 25% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the United States (with a CAGR of +45.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for plastic furniture exports from Turkey, comprising 17% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 4.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Iraq, with a 4.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States stood at +41.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+8.4% per year) and Iraq (-1.6% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of furniture of plastic increased by 20% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. Imports peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plastic furniture imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 59% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Italy (X units), Malaysia (X units) and Israel (X units) were the main suppliers of plastic furniture imports to Turkey, with a combined 78% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Malaysia (with a CAGR of +106.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Italy ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Israel ($X) constituted the largest plastic furniture suppliers to Turkey, together comprising 69% of total imports.

Malaysia, with a CAGR of +106.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average plastic furniture import price amounted to $X per unit, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a mild reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 45% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
