Exports by Country
Israel (X tons), Morocco (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of flat glass exports from Turkey, with a combined 41% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Lebanon, the United States, Ukraine, Tunisia, Bulgaria, the UK, Iraq, Cyprus, Ireland and India, which together accounted for a further 43%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the United States (with a CAGR of +283.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Israel ($X), Spain ($X) and Morocco ($X) were the largest markets for flat glass exported from Turkey worldwide, with a combined 36% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Ukraine, the United States, Lebanon, Tunisia, the UK, Iraq, Bulgaria, Ireland, Cyprus and India, which together accounted for a further 40%.
The United States, with a CAGR of +181.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average flat glass export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 20% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Turkey
In 2021, purchases abroad of flat glass increased by 24% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Over the period under review, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +46.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 40%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +63.0% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Iran (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of flat glass imports to Turkey, together accounting for 56% of total imports. These countries were followed by Russia, China, Italy, Germany, Romania and Israel, which together accounted for a further 30%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Russia (with a CAGR of +201.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Belgium ($X), Russia ($X) and Bulgaria ($X) constituted the largest flat glass suppliers to Turkey, with a combined 47% share of total imports.
Russia, with a CAGR of +139.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average flat glass import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 13%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
