Graphite Market Size in Turkey

In value terms, graphite exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports enjoyed moderate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 59% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

North Macedonia (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main destinations of graphite exports from Turkey, with a combined 62% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the UK, Spain, Japan and Israel, which together accounted for a further 28%.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, graphite imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +39.5% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Madagascar (X tons), China (X tons) and Mozambique (X tons) were the main suppliers of graphite imports to Turkey, together accounting for 82% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Madagascar (with a CAGR of +156.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Madagascar ($X), China ($X) and Germany ($X) were the largest graphite suppliers to Turkey, together comprising 78% of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Madagascar, with a CAGR of +148.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
