Animal Guts Market Size in Turkey
The Turkish animal guts market contracted to $X in 2022, shrinking by -9.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +5.2% against 2020 indices. Animal guts consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, animal guts production dropped sharply to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production saw a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 155%. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports from Turkey
After eight years of growth, overseas shipments of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals decreased by -13.9% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, animal guts exports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +90.8% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.
Exports by Country
Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Ghana (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) were the main destinations of animal guts exports from Turkey, with a combined 67% share of total exports. Congo, Vietnam, Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, Germany and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Congo (with a CAGR of +204.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) remains the key foreign market for guts, bladders and stomachs of animals exports from Turkey, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 9.7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Hong Kong SAR amounted to +45.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-6.2% per year) and France (+19.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average animal guts export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, faced a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Turkey
For the third consecutive year, Turkey recorded decline in overseas purchases of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals, which decreased by -27.2% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 78%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, animal guts imports amounted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 43%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Spain (X tons) constituted the largest animal guts supplier to Turkey, accounting for a 25% share of total imports. Moreover, animal guts imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Afghanistan (X tons), twofold. Brazil (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Spain totaled +24.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Afghanistan (+141.5% per year) and Brazil (+2.6% per year).
In value terms, the largest animal guts suppliers to Turkey were Iran ($X), Spain ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X), together comprising 46% of total imports. New Zealand, Kyrgyzstan, Brazil, Lebanon, Australia, Germany, Afghanistan, Romania, North Macedonia and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.
Romania, with a CAGR of +779.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average animal guts import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 39% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
