Household Sewing Machine Market Size in Turkey

The Turkish household sewing machine market was estimated at $X in 2021, approximately equating the previous year. In value terms, household sewing machine exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Azerbaijan (X units), Iran (X units) and Cyprus (X units) were the main destinations of household sewing machine exports from Turkey, together accounting for 66% of total exports. Iraq, North Macedonia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Libya, Germany and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Libya (with a CAGR of +19.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Iran ($X), Azerbaijan ($X) and Cyprus ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for household sewing machine exported from Turkey worldwide, with a combined 61% share of total exports. Turkmenistan, Iraq, Libya, Germany, North Macedonia, Ukraine and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.

In 2021, the average household sewing machine export price amounted to $X per unit, growing by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 193%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+10.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Turkey

Household sewing machine imports into Turkey skyrocketed to X units in 2021, growing by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +37.6% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 28%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, household sewing machine imports declined to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

China (X units), Vietnam (X units) and Thailand (X units) were the main suppliers of household sewing machine imports to Turkey, with a combined 99% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +12.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 22% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (-2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
