Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +63.7% against 2018 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imines imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine-year period. In 2021, India (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of imines to Turkey, with a 55% share of total imports. Moreover, imines imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by France (X tons), with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from India totaled +3.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+18.4% per year) and France (+53.7% per year).

In value terms, India ($X), China ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the largest imines suppliers to Turkey, with a combined 84% share of total imports. Russia, Germany and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 7.7%.

Among the main suppliers, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +103.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average imines import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable decline. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
