Kuwait (X kg) was the main destination for inulin exports from Turkey, with a 89% share of total exports. Moreover, inulin exports to Kuwait exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Azerbaijan (X kg), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Kuwait was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Azerbaijan (-14.3% per year) and the Netherlands (0.0% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for inulin exported from Turkey were Kuwait ($X), Azerbaijan ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 95% share of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Azerbaijan, with a CAGR of +13.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average inulin export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -9.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 26%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+31.7%).

Imports into Turkey
For the fourth year in a row, Turkey recorded growth in overseas purchases of inulin, which increased by 60% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a strong increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, inulin imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed strong growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of inulin to Turkey, with a 74% share of total imports. Moreover, inulin imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Luxembourg (X tons), tenfold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Belgium totaled +12.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Luxembourg (+1.4% per year) and China (+68.2% per year).
In value terms, Belgium ($X) constituted the largest supplier of inulin to Turkey, comprising 70% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Luxembourg, with a 6.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Belgium totaled +12.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+52.4% per year) and Luxembourg (+1.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average inulin import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 18% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
