In 2021, imports of lithium carbonates into Turkey declined remarkably to X tons, with a decrease of -44.7% against 2020. Over the period under review, imports faced a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, lithium carbonate imports contracted remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a deep contraction. In value terms, Chile ($X) constituted the largest supplier of lithium carbonates to Turkey, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Belgium, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Chile was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-18.6% per year) and Belgium (+12.1% per year).

The average lithium carbonate import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 54%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
