Georgia (X tons) was the main destination for malt exports from Turkey, accounting for a 91% share of total exports. Moreover, malt exports to Georgia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Georgia stood at -39.5%.
In value terms, Georgia ($X) remains the key foreign market for malt exports from Turkey, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 13% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country
The average malt export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 159% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a resilient increase. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+109.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Turkey
In 2022, the amount of malt imported into Turkey surged to X tons, rising by 71% against 2021 figures. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 78%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of malt to Turkey, accounting for a 41% share of total imports. Moreover, malt imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Denmark (X tons), threefold. Hungary (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany totaled +29.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Denmark (+6.3% per year) and Hungary (+28.7% per year).
In value terms, the largest malt suppliers to Turkey were Germany ($X), Hungary ($X) and Denmark ($X), with a combined 70% share of total imports. Russia, Ukraine, France, Croatia and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.
France, with a CAGR of +120.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average malt import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 31% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.7%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Croatia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+77.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
