As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, mercury exports declined to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 3,687% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Azerbaijan (X tons), Chad (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main destinations of mercury exports from Turkey, with a combined 99.9% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Chad (with a CAGR of +36.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, India ($X), Azerbaijan ($X) and Chad ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for mercury exported from Turkey worldwide, with a combined 99.9% share of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Chad, with a CAGR of +37.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
Export Prices by Country
The average mercury export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -6.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 70%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Azerbaijan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+16.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Turkey
In 2021, purchases abroad of mercuries was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 1,299% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, mercury imports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 339% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Switzerland (X tons) was the main mercury supplier to Turkey, accounting for a 95% share of total imports. Moreover, mercury imports from Switzerland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X kg), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Switzerland stood at +74.5%.
In value terms, Switzerland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of mercuries to Turkey, comprising 92% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 5.9% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Switzerland amounted to +49.9%.
Import Prices by Country
The average mercury import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -91.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 1,011%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Switzerland amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+131.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
