Iraq (X tons) was the main destination for onion and shallot exports from Turkey, with a 27% share of total exports. Moreover, onion and shallot exports to Iraq exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Russia (X tons), with an 11% share.

In 2022, overseas purchases of onions and shallots decreased by -79.4% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports saw a drastic downturn. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, onion and shallot imports shrank notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a deep slump.
