In value terms, organic surface active agent exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Egypt (X tons), Serbia (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) were the main destinations of organic surface active agent exports from Turkey, with a combined 49% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Serbia (with a CAGR of +52.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for organic surface active agent exported from Turkey were Egypt ($X), Iraq ($X) and Serbia ($X), together accounting for 44% of total exports.

Serbia, with a CAGR of +45.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average organic surface active agent export price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -5.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bangladesh (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Turkey

In 2021, after four years of growth, there was decline in purchases abroad of organic surface active agents, when their volume decreased by -1.1% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

In value terms, organic surface active agent imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Germany (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of organic surface active agent imports to Turkey, together comprising 46% of total imports. These countries were followed by Egypt, India, the Netherlands, South Korea, Malaysia, Greece, China, Thailand, Slovakia and France, which together accounted for a further 44%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Greece (with a CAGR of +123.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Belgium ($X) and Italy ($X) constituted the largest organic surface active agent suppliers to Turkey, with a combined 48% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, India, Egypt, South Korea, China, Malaysia, Thailand, France, Greece and Slovakia, which together accounted for a further 41%.

Among the main suppliers, Greece, with a CAGR of +106.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average organic surface active agent import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a mild reduction. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
