Overall, exports recorded a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 871% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, exports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 338%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Egypt (X tons) was the main destination for exports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing from Turkey, accounting for a 51% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing to Egypt exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (X tons), with a 19% share.

In value terms, Egypt ($X), Germany ($X) and Russia ($X) constituted the largest markets for seed, fruit and spore used for sowing exported from Turkey worldwide, together accounting for 88% of total exports. Georgia and Iraq lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 2.3%.
Among the main countries of destination, Georgia, with a CAGR of +81.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 3.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 345%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Turkey
In 2022, supplies from abroad of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 1,371% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, imports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing fell markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 519% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of seed, fruit and spore used for sowing to Turkey, accounting for a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, El Salvador (X tons), twofold. Sweden (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 18% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United States stood at +8.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: El Salvador (-11.8% per year) and Sweden (+31.1% per year).
In value terms, Brazil ($X), the United States ($X) and Sweden ($X) constituted the largest seed, fruit and spore used for sowing suppliers to Turkey, together accounting for 78% of total imports. Mexico, El Salvador, Bulgaria and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.
Mexico, with a CAGR of +306.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average import price for seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -45.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 223% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced notably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while the price for El Salvador ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+30.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
