From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, encased lead pencil exports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Egypt (X units) was the main destination for encased lead pencil exports from Turkey, accounting for a 43% share of total exports. Moreover, encased lead pencil exports to Egypt exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X units), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Tunisia (X units), with a 4.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Egypt amounted to +34.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-9.4% per year) and the United States (+69.4% per year).

In value terms, encased lead pencil imports reduced notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 178% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X units), France (X units) and Egypt (X units) were the main suppliers of encased lead pencil imports to Turkey, together comprising 76% of total imports.
