Quicklime Market Size in Turkey

The Turkish quicklime market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, showed strong growth. In value terms, quicklime exports fell modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -13.9% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Ghana (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Guinea (X tons) were the main destinations of quicklime exports from Turkey, with a combined 73% share of total exports. Canada, Greece, Cote d'Ivoire, Mali and Senegal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Cote d'Ivoire (with a CAGR of +25.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Guinea ($X), Ghana ($X) and Israel ($X) constituted the largest markets for quicklime exported from Turkey worldwide, together accounting for 79% of total exports. Canada, Greece, Cote d'Ivoire, Mali and Senegal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +17.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average quicklime export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 30% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.5%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Guinea ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Guinea (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of quicklime into Turkey soared to X tons, rising by 16% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 305% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, quicklime imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 159% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, the largest quicklime suppliers to Turkey were Spain ($X), the UK ($X) and Switzerland ($X), with a combined 96% share of total imports.

The average quicklime import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a slight reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 138%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
