The Turkish quinoa market surged to $X in 2021, increasing by 294% against the previous year. Ireland (X tons) was the main destination for quinoa exports from Turkey, accounting for a 50% share of total exports. Moreover, quinoa exports to Ireland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Tunisia (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Germany (X tons), with an 8.7% share.

From 2014 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Ireland stood at -32.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tunisia (0.0% per year) and Germany (-19.9% per year).

In value terms, Ireland ($X) remains the key foreign market for quinoa exports from Turkey, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Tunisia ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with an 8.8% share.

From 2014 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Ireland amounted to -31.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tunisia (0.0% per year) and Germany (-26.2% per year).

The average quinoa export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 5.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 25%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Tunisia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, quinoa imports into Turkey skyrocketed to X tons, with an increase of 41% on the year before. In general, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 525% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, quinoa imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 338% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Peru (X tons) was the main supplier of quinoa to Turkey, with a 96% share of total imports. Moreover, quinoa imports from Peru exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), more than tenfold.
