In value terms, Tanzania ($X) remains the key foreign market for saccharin and its salts exports from Turkey, comprising 33% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ethiopia ($X), with a 4.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Syrian Arab Republic, with a 1.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Tanzania was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ethiopia (0.0% per year) and Syrian Arab Republic (+35.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average saccharin export price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -2.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 44% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iraq ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ethiopia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 78% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, saccharin imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 86%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Thailand (X tons), China (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main suppliers of saccharin imports to Turkey, together comprising 99% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +3,204.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Thailand ($X), China ($X) and South Korea ($X) constituted the largest saccharin suppliers to Turkey, with a combined 97% share of total imports.
Thailand, with a CAGR of +3,637.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average saccharin import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 17%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
