The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, preserved salmon exports stood at $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 2,370%. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Belgium (X kg), the United States (X kg) and the UK (X kg) were the main destinations of preserved salmon exports from Turkey, together comprising 30% of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, Marshall Islands, the Netherlands, Liberia, Spain, Malta, Japan, Canada and South Korea, which together accounted for a further 51%.

From 2015 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +198.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average preserved salmon export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 4.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 50% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Liberia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, preserved salmon imports reduced sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a buoyant increase.
