From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, sheepskin and lambskin exports fell notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a sharp decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 86%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

The United States (X tons), Italy (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main destinations of sheepskin and lambskin exports from Turkey, together comprising 61% of total exports. The Netherlands, France, Germany, China, Canada and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +442.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Italy ($X), the United States ($X) and the UK ($X) were the largest markets for sheepskin and lambskin exported from Turkey worldwide, together comprising 54% of total exports. The Netherlands, France, China, Germany, Canada and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +476.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average sheepskin and lambskin export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded perceptible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+55.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Turkey
In 2022, sheepskin and lambskin imports into Turkey soared to X tons, picking up by 31% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 69%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, sheepskin and lambskin imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 70%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the UK (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sheepskin and lambskin to Turkey, with a 31% share of total imports. Moreover, sheepskin and lambskin imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Africa (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Greece (X tons), with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the UK totaled +9.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Africa (+63.0% per year) and Greece (+3.7% per year).
In value terms, the UK ($X), South Africa ($X) and Greece ($X) constituted the largest sheepskin and lambskin suppliers to Turkey, together accounting for 46% of total imports. Spain, France, Lebanon, Italy, Australia, Germany, Norway, Iraq, Ireland and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 44%.
Iraq, with a CAGR of +60.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average sheepskin and lambskin import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 2.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 14% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the price for Iraq ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
