In value terms, fromwork exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a slight increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 239% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Iraq (X tons) was the main destination for fromwork exports from Turkey, accounting for a 45% share of total exports. Moreover, fromwork exports to Iraq exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mongolia (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Azerbaijan (X tons), with a 4.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Iraq totaled +15.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mongolia (0.0% per year) and Azerbaijan (+8.3% per year).

In value terms, Iraq ($X), Mongolia ($X) and Azerbaijan ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for fromwork exported from Turkey worldwide, together comprising 66% of total exports. Cyprus, Algeria, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Georgia, Mali, Somalia, Iran, Greece, Austria and Saudi Arabia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

Among the main countries of destination, Somalia, with a CAGR of +31.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average fromwork export price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -2.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mali ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, Austria (X tons) constituted the largest fromwork supplier to Turkey, accounting for a 79% share of total imports. Moreover, fromwork imports from Austria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), fourfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Austria amounted to +10.5%.

In value terms, Austria ($X) constituted the largest supplier of shuttering for concrete constructional work, shingles and shakes, of wood to Turkey, comprising 78% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 22% share of total imports.

In 2022, the average fromwork import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 6.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 23% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Austria totaled $X per ton.
